Most veterans of the ‘Z are familiar with the propaganda pamphlets sent into the DMZ by the both sides. We collect examples of them from the war and the decades after. Most of them feature standard psyops themes — encouraging defection, showcasing economic success, etc. But here’s one we not only don’t have, but of which we’ve never heard.
“The museum also houses exhibits on the transformation of the DMZ into a sprawling ecological park, cannon shells fired from North Korea in 2010, as well as a collection of propaganda pamphlets that provides insight into the ideological tug-of-war between the two sides. North Korean leaflets promised a socialist nirvana, while those from the South tantalised the value of freedom through seductive imagery, including women in bikinis,” reports the Guardian, a British newspaper.
