South Korea last week issued evacuation orders for two islands near the disputed maritime border between North and South after reports of shelling from North Korean artillery.
“Kim Yo Jong, the sister of the isolated regime‘s supreme leader, said the shelling report by Seoul was actually detonated explosive powder meant to simulate the sound of 130-millimeter rounds” — what the North Korean military called “deceptive operation simulating shelling.” According to North Korea, some real rounds were also part of the reported barrages.
Newsweek has the story.
